From the coast to characteristic villages, permeated by culture, archaeology, museums, crystal clear waters and mountains, Sardinia stands out as a place of memory with poetic landscapes and incomparable flavors. Sardinia is above all a land of culture with its 7000 megalithic buildings, such as the Arzachena ones, and several remains of ancient castles and fortresses.  

Tour programme

Day 1:

ARRIVAL IN OLBIA

Arrival at the hotel in Olbia. Dinner at your leisure. Accommodation.  

Day 2:

OLBIA- SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA - CASTELSARDO- ALGHERO

Hotel breakfast and meeting with the tour leader and the rest of the group. Departure by bus to the northern part of the island heading to Santa Teresa di Gallura, crossing the “Costa Paradiso” with its wonderful landscape and with a stop Castelsardo, a picturesque village in the sea shores. Lunch at your leisure and continuation to Alghero, accommodation at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.  

Day 3:

ALGHERO

Hotel breakfast and departure for a guided visit to Alghero, a city full of catalan influences. Visit of San Giovanni towers and Porta Terra, the San Francesco church and the Cathedral in the city centre. Lunch at your leisure and free time for a stroll  in the afternoon. Optional boat trip (extra quoted) to Neptune's Cave, the most interesting cave of Sardinia, natural monuments made of the constant work of the water over the years and offering stalactites and stalagmites, underground lakes and large rooms of karst formation. Dinner at the hotel. 

Day 4:

ALGHERO - THARROS - ORISTANO

Hotel breakfast and departure to Tharros, located at the southern end of the Sinis Peninsula, and visit of this important archaeological site. We will continue to Cabras, where we'll stop for a visit to the local museum and for the lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we'll head to Oristano, founed in 1070, where we'll visit the city centre, which kept its original characteristics.  Hotel accommodation near Oristano and dinner.



Day 5:

ORISTANO - BARUMINI - NUORO

Hotel breakfast and departure to Barumini, in the MArmilla area, one of the most charming in the central and southern parts of Sardinia.  Visit of the nuragic village of Su Nuraxi, listed 1997 as a UNESCO world heritage site, and one of the most preserved of the whole region. Visit of Barumini village and free time for lunch at your leisure. IN the afternoon, departure to Nuoro, a cultural city full of traditions and the most populated of the Barbagia region. Hotel accommodation and dinner. 

 


Day 6:

NUORO- ORGOSOLO- OLBIA

Hotel breakfast and departure for a visit to the famous Sardinian Ethnographic Museum, one of the most visited museums of the island, with its collections of the Sardinian civilization: clothing, jewellery, textile and wood manufactures, weapons, masks and agricultural and pastoral tools, reflecting the past and the traditions of the Sardinian inhabitants.  Continuations to Orgosolo, in the heart of Barbagia region and a few km from Nuoro, where we’ll admire the painted facades of houses and rocks. These murals are social, artistic and political representations. Typical pic nic with the shepherds to enjoy the culinary specialties of the region . Free time for a stroll in Orgosolo and continuation to Olbia.  Dinner at the hotel.  

Day 7:

PALAU- MADDALENA AN CAPRERA- COSTA SMERALDA- OLBIA

Hotel breakfast and excursion the renowned Costa Smeralda – the emerald  coast-  with the famous resorts Porto Rotondo and Porto Cervo. Lunch at your leisure and excursion to La Maddalena and Caprera islands (by ferry), part of the Maddalena Archipelag national park, a marine protected area. Visit to the house museum of  Giuseppe Garibaldi, who spent several years on the island. Return to Olbia. Dinner at your leisure.  


Day 8:

OLBIA

Hotel breakfast and departure.
